Just received a Tom Dixon newsletter and I was pleased to find out that there are great new pieces from the line now available in the US. I absolutely love the clean, industrial look – not too stark modern, not traditional. For more information on their products check out their website.

Tom Dixon Club Sofa
I’ve been working on decorating my new loft apartment so I have been out and about to see what’s new out there in the decorating world. I was please to find out that the Tom Dixon upholstery furniture is now available through George Smith, and I absolutely love the Club Sofa. By the way, George Smith is the creme de la creme in the upholstery world.
The great thing with ordering through George Smith is you can order your sofa COM. For those of you who don’t know – COM means “Customer’s Own Material” – you can pick any fabric you like for your upholstery piece. They also carry a wide range of beautiful fabrics you can choose from.
I decided to go with a Holly Hunt’s Peace of Mind Linen in Cool Breeze. I can’t wait!
All of Tom Dixon’s upholstery pieces can be ordered through George Smith. Here a a few pics of what they offer:
Hmmm. Now, I need some great pillows… Stay tuned!
Here are links to the Club Sofa and to Tom Dixon by George Smith’s Website:

Lamp - After
I’ve been working on decorating a girl’s room for a client. One of the last items on our list was to find a stylish lamp for her room. After scouring many of the various lighting companies out there and coming up with nothing, I decided to look into my treasure closet of vintage finds – and there it was – a white ceramic pineapple lamp I had pick up from an Antique Dealer in Buenos Aires. Modern and stylish, my client and I decided it would be perfect – but the black lampshade had to go….

Lamp - Before
After scouring through a few wallpaper sources, we found a great Cole and Son’s David Hicks wallpaper – and decided it was the way to go. I ordered the wallpaper and took it to a custom lampshade workroom. We decided to do an oversized shade- to give it a little more height and show off more of the wonderful wallpaper we selected… and VOILA! A really hip wonderful lamp to accent a very adorable little girls’ room.

Lounge Area at Club 647. Photo courtesy of www.welcomesantelmoc.com
Just came back from Buenos Aires and I have to say – eating and drinking is better than ever! Here are a couple of new restaurants….
1. Las Cabras – new to the Palermo Hollywood scene – dining at Las Cabras is EVEN better than Las Cholas.. Their food is better, cheaper – but be prepared for a long wait, however it is definitely well worth it. And yes, they do have a Gran Bife de Las Cabras. Yum!
2. 647 Dinner Club – in San Telmo has some of the best food I’ve had in a while in Buenos Aires – well besides steak. Super swanky and beautifully decorated – you must try this restaurant.
3. Gran Bar Danzon – not new. I can’t believe I forgot this gem. One of my favorite restaurants in Buenos Aires, we spent a wonderful evening sipping on wine and having picadas and sushi in the lounge area.

Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine
The Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine is a godsend for all you coffee lovers who prefer pump-action to drip (you know who I’m talking about). The machine has a fairly small footprint and can be easily stored when not in use. But why would you want to do that? Once you start pulling shots from the Gaggia you’ll be playing barista for all of your friends.
The grouphead and portafilter are solid, chrome-plated brass to help you achieve the perfect crema in your coffee drink. A removable water container sits inside the machine, and a double shot and single shot basket are included for added flexibility. For the lactose tolerant, an Italian-style panorello wand is included for making perfect microfoam for macchiatos and cappucinos.
The Cheeky loves its espressos, and the Gaggia has never let us down.

- Mesila’s Booksham Buttons
At Cheeky Living we’re not only big fans of global design, but environmental design as well. That’s why we were pleased to find Mesila, an Israeli studio that specializes in sustainable design.
Based in Tel Aviv, and created by Shlomit Levy, Avital Levy and Ifat Zvirin, Mesila is a unique design studio that aims to influence people to live a more socially and environmentally responsible life by designing sustainable products. All of Mesila’s designers carefully choose their design materials using an eco-design strategy which minimizes their ecological footprint.
Instead of creating an infinite number of products, the designers at Mesila studio like to give the materials they use an infinite lifespan by taking old discarded materials and turning them into something new.

- Cheeky Living’s Siphone Seltzer Bottles
At Cheeky Living, we’ve also been a fan of turning something old into something new. But this design process isn’t limited to the materials. We like to create items and environments that have a classic design. This way, our products can continue to be beautiful and fashionable year after year.

I came across a post on Apartment Therapy today about interesting bath decor featured on The Selby. It reminded me of a powder room I did recently. The bathroom had black and white tile. To dress things up a bit I painted the walls in a black semi-gloss and then plastered the walls with butterfly pics I picked up at the Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.
