Staying warm during the winter months is about planning. We at the Cheeky have no sympathy for suckers who refuse to be prepared for the inevitable snow and slush. There are a few states exempt from this, but even a robust dousing of cold rain will make you wish you had done your feet right. Here at the Cheeky, we reminisce of a time when men’s pants looked like they belonged on men. The 2000s have brought an odd aesthetic of the ‘metrosexual’ male. Tight jeans with flaps on the pockets paired with shirts so tight they almost look like women’s crop tops. This is not sexy at the Cheeky. We no like. (more…)

You would reckon that Icelanders know a thing about being comfortable in cold weather. The winter near the top of the world features long nights that almost go for a full 24 hours. And yet, despite this lack of solar heat and its cheery effect, Icelanders are some of the most pleasant people you are likely to meet with the exception of that brooding Bjork character. What is the hallmark of the young rube… just out of college, first job in a suit, eager to show he belongs with the hitters? Ill fitting, designer clothes. The other day I was at a restaurant in downtown Manhattan watching two fools bragging about their Armani suits. Nothing wrong with Armani, but in life, as in basketball, it’s about sound fundamentals. A poorly tailored suit from any brand will look sloppy compared to a no-name suit recut to fit like a glove by a master. The same holds true for shirts and, as shirts are closer to the body, the rewards of proper tailoring are doubled when it comes to comfort. (more…)
